As I walked reluctantly out of the British Museum and into the rain last week, I remembered a friend telling me about a beautiful ceramics gallery just across the road. It was lucky that she had mentioned it, because the gallery is small, slim and overpowered by the plenitude of touristy souvenir shops. The gallery is fairly easy to overlook, but once inside, you may be there for a long time.
This Contemporary Ceramics gallery displays work by an impressive variety of makers, creating intriguing juxtapositions between styles, textures, patterns and forms. Humorous contrasts are also evident from the mixture of animal sculptures currently on display and looking curiously out into the busy road.
